Engagement Shoot Checklist
Why are engagement shoots so awesome
The first reason is it breaks the ice and l lets the couple get comfortable in front of the camera. It’s fun to hang out, have a chat and take a few photos… psst the magic always happens at end of the shoot.
What to wear
Generally I suggest wearing outfits that you would wear out on a date as its a special occasion in complementary colours, patterns shirts as had a nice touch of texture to the images and flowing dresses can be fun blowing on the beach.
Location
I like to leave this one up to the couple, a location that has sentimental meaning to the couple add’s a personal touch to the photos as each couple’s story is different I like to include as much personal touch to each couple I work with. For forest or shaded locations, I recommend having the shoot earlier in the day so catch the sunlight streaming through the tree’s canopies.
Time
The best light generally happens 1 hour before sunset which we call golden hour as it has a warm light as the sun sets below the horizon. Sunset are great during the long summer and Autumn evenings, in Auckland Piha & Muriwai Beach are both very popular locations to catch the last rays of light.
Let’s have fun
This is the most important thing to remember is to connect and have fun as there isn’t any pressure its just you guys I just want to capture little moments as you are together it’s that simple.
